Drove past your farm entrance yesterday on way back to Scotland from Norwich. How do you manage to get in and out of the farm on that very busy road? It was a horrendous drive on Friday bumper to bumper Why was the A17 not a dual carriageway even in some part of it would nake life a lot easier for you all on that road. Enjoy the videos

How did sprayer window get damaged ??

Family walk on sunday around Ampleforth college area ( no the children dont go!!!!) Some of the winter crops are infested with wild oats and broam, you can really see the crops look stunted! Top effort Andrew!!

That late spring ...crop need to be ploughed to get the land dry out and get the drity down.😊

Tractor hoeing, don't sneeze! Or it'll be a wipe out.

I use to rouge crop direct to farmer's and was paid well as a young fella then when agency's took over they where charging us out at twice what we were paid for sitting in a office so I started my own crew and paid ataff better and charged enough to cover cost of tax etc. Alway put a bbq on once a month, fri beer's, turn up randomly with pies & ice creams when could as I worked as well running the machinery side. Made sure they were appropriated coz it can be a crap job some days. Was about 20c a hr profit for company. Covid killed it due to the bloody regulations we had to follow cost atupid amounts of paying some prick that had never seen a spud or wheat field. Alot of my staff where classed as unemployable by so many yet they did a awesome job for me coz of the appreciation and have managed to move on to even better jobs. 1 example was a women beaten by her ex husband, had no self esteem or confidence and wouldn't look anyone eye to eye is now running our local fertilizer store, re married and loving live again.

Andrew..excellent content as usual..what are your views on Geo Engineering and the negative effects on Agriculture both in the UK and further afield to counteract the effects of Climate change the reported reason for manipulating weather patterns...? A Hot topic for sure in the coming years..!

Do you also allocate a cost to the movement of the welfare trailer and the collection and disposal of the oats and grasses etc?

Another interesting video, nice to see your crops to compare with ours down here, have been on my own pulling blackgrass and some Ryegrass all week. More blackgrass than ryegrass this year, have you a crack in your sprayer rear window glass? ( I probably imagined it) 😂

Thanks Andrew, another great update. You have presented your black grass control really well. I know you have shown this for a number of years. You mentioned how each farm has a different approach, I see it around the area where I live. There is a farm where I go pigeon shooting and I have noticed the amount of black grass is getting worse. Does the change in farming methods have a big impact, I know there is less ploughing done and more use of minimum tillage or no tillage. The clip you showed about the edge of the field having a clean line of crop, clear area and cover. This shows how good farming and land management practices benefits wildlife, something that more people should be made aware of. Anyway, thanks again.

You’ve got a Michael Williams Big Brute vacuum on the farm, wouldn’t a brush attachment on that allow you to scrub into the drying floor vents and remove the crushed OSR? Without using water, which must be messy?

Great update as always Andrew, the hand pickers are doing a fantastic job . I think this is the only way a lot of farmers are going to get on this black grass problem, and when you compare the cost it makes sense doing it this way. Nice to see the tractor hoe doing a good job.

The £/ hours you pay for the pullers I think is not to bad for a clean out crew in the poultry job you can put about £10/ hour on top of that but it does include all kit needed and fuel the first year you decided to spray off all the black grass must have taken some nerve but it has paid off

Great video. Just had a few days on a ford 5610 with a 6 row Webb front mounted hoe - hard not to lose concentration when doing that for hours on end. Got to love the word “wizzened “ Young uns seem to have no idea what that means!

Morning Andrew another nice update, inter hopeing beet needs a lot keeping in rows as I found out ,when i had ago with only only a five row scerry. Just wondering what would the chemical cost for be instead of the rougeing

Good morning Andrew. Interesting watching the 18 row cultivator and precision driving. I spent many hours in my early teens cultivating cauliflowers with an Alis Chalmers model B and a mid. mounted toolbar. In later years a modified David Brown 780 with mid. mounted toolbar. We cultivated 2/3rds of the joining row each time so actually overlapping in the middle of the row but more margin for error in the joining row. What I am trying to say is we would do 17 rows and 2 halves and drive in the same track as the drill/planter tractor.

Andrew, Do you have the facility to monitor air speed on the sprayer? That’s some damage to the beet.

Good morning Andrew, the mechanical hoe driver was doing a good job, having done a little of it on a smaller hoe in Swedes I know it takes a lot of concentration to stay in the row. Just shows how effective the hand rouging is with your pile of wild oats and black grass in the woods.

Sugar beet hoeing, spent my apprenticeship on a 275 MF with a 6 row hoe. I feel sure is was mid mounted but can’t quite remember. But I do remember my boss giving me a hand hoe after my first day in the field and telling me to go back and chop out the weeds I missed 😂 I learnt 2 things during that job How to drive straight And to get my arse off the tractor seat

HOE &grow why no back wheel erasers on hoe the beat not as forward as some i have saw in north Norfolk best of luck with the war on black grass , wish our local council was as vigilant with the grass gutting

Would the spray tech system not be good for u an for them to demo ,using cameras on each nozzle to spot spray

I wonder if the pickers knew what they were charging you per hour...? You forgot to budget in all the ice creams you buy them 😉 They earn every ice cream doing that job...👍

Great video Andrew - so much to see. Farm I lived on as a kid had two tractor drawn combines. Remember one catching fire in the field by our bungalow. The cow man saved the day by driving disc harrow round the combine. Fire was out by the time Fire Brigade arrived. Off to Great Yorkshire Show in July. Good that they offer NFU Members 25% discount - not all shows do.

It makes me sad seeing that Fowler traction engine on the showground - I attended the Lincolnshire Steam and Vintage Rally more or less ever year there since 2005 and enjoyed it every year. Sadly the event has now been cancelled 😢

If you want British sugar then forget Sainsburys; theirs is just "packed in the UK". Not very patriotic and of no help to UK farmers. I am now changing to Morrisons for all my shopping.

It looks like it was a good show. I went in 1983, in extremely muddy conditions. Unfortunately my local show, Derbyshire County Show is cancelled due to ground conditions. Two hours of heavy rainfall on Tuesday evening caused the showground to flood.
